This is a description of a birth that Sarah, a doula attended. Sarah sent C. to me for acupuncture when the mother to be became impatient after her due date arrived. Along with acupuncture, I suggested they use a birthing essential oil blend I formulated called Transformation to both initiate and use during labor. Below is the Birth Story.

Hi Dina,
..." the birth. It really was an amazing thing to witness—I’ve actually never seen anything like it, and still can’t quite comprehend how C. managed it so well. She claimed to be in very little pain, “just sort of crampy,” when I got to her house yesterday, she was chatting, walking around, laughing, and when we got to the hospital and she was already dilated to 7 (after having gotten to 5 by that morning at her midwife appt.) ! From there, it was much of the same—utter calm, she sat in the bathtub and just kept her entire body so calm not a single part of her was tensed, and she kept saying “well, I guess these are pretty tight but they’re manageable.” Just so quiet and serene, this birth. It didn’t take long for her to calmly say “now I feel like I might have to push a little.” Her pushing was so effective, on the first try she got the baby to crown, and it only took about 4 more pushes for her to get the baby out (and a big baby too for such a tiny woman--8.11). Because she was just so patient and let her body do its work, she had a very minor 2nd degree tear, only took two stitches, which is unusual and great. No interventions were used for the entire birth—they only monitored the baby’s heart for about 5 minutes every hour or so, she was up and mobile, was able to get on her hands and knees for the last part of her labor, the midwife was very cool and let us alone for the most part but was also very warm and supportive. And after the baby was born, it was as if C. hadn’t gone through anything at all—perfectly lucid, not hysterical, just very calm and happy and secure. The baby nursed right away. It was so beautiful and so natural, I really wish someone would have taped the whole thing to show at childbirth classes. I just can’t quite get over how she did it the way she did, it’s like she turned into this very old soul, and somehow didn’t feel the pain. Wow. It’s like it was mystical.

Anyway—we used the oil throughout the birth on her lower back and feet, and I know the work you did had a huge impact on the quality of her labor and birth. Of course I would love to work with you with my clients, I always recommend they see you, but some of them are a little skittish when it comes to needles! But that transformation rub is great and maybe I should get a few bottles of that from you at some point for clients.
